High Cholesterol

About a low Cholesterol diet

· You have to use naturally occurring oil such as canola or olive oil.
· If you have to use processed foods, use foods made with unhydrogenated oil rather than hydrogenated or saturated fat.
· Use margarine for butter, use soft margarines (the liquid or tub varieties) in stead of harder stick forms. Use margarine with less than 2 grams of saturated fat per tablespoon and with liquid vegetable oil as the first ingredient. Look for the label: "trans-fat free."
· Consume infrequently: French fries, cookies, doughnuts and crackers, they are high in bad cholesterol.
· Limit the saturated fat in your diet.
· Eat infrequently commercially fried fast foods and commercial baked goods
