Is it possible to treat high cholesterol with acupuncture?
Lovinstatin nearly killed me and even though I know there are other drugs I would rather do it in a more natural way. I am already exercising daily and have changed my diet. I have diabetes, which, if I understand, makes the high cholesterol even more worrisome.

No double-blind scientific studies to support this idea. Natural is fine, but effective is much more important. check with more than one doctor (MD) to find the best medication for you.
See my other answer. Plant sterols. Fish.
A primarily vegetable diet with some whole grains (especially oats) and fish or chicken is a good way to start. Buy some policosanol, too. It really helps. Avoid meat and dairy at all costs… they’re not good for either condition. Have you seen my diabetes info webpage?
high cholesterol is a sign that the balance in the meridians has gone haywire. in diabetes it is much worse in its ability to cause complications. both the diabetes and the cholesterol will be helped by acupuncture as it has the ability to correct the imbalances in your body. please continue diet and exercise, weight control etc.
Hi Jane… I am a pharmacist and I would love to help you with your problem. Acupuncture is not a FDA approved procedure to lower cholesterol. I would first like to ask you how high your cholesterol is. How aggressively we need to lower it depends upon how high it was to begin with. Your LDL goal is mostly likely less than 100 mg/dL. If lovastatin did not work for you, there are many other cholesterol lowering medications available. If I could talk to you in person I would like to ask what happened with your lovastatin treatment. It depends on what the problem was so I could recommend other drugs.
But keeping those things in mind, I would tell you that I can’t give you so many suggestions at this point. But maybe you can try Zetia. It blocks the absorption of cholesterol and works very differently from the other medication you were on. I suggest you speak with your physician about starting an alternative to Statin therapy. It is keeping you at a much higher risk to not do anything about your cholesterol. You can also try takin a supplement with your Zetia called CholestOff: which is a natural product with Plant Sterols.
Overall, I understand your concern about your health. The best way to deal with it is to contact your physician and sit down and discuss all of your options. There are many alternatives available to you, and I suggest you exhaust all of them before turning to methods that are not really proven to be effective.

Consider taking 1 tablespoon of living olive oil a day. I’m sure you’re well aware of the Mediterranean diet. Doing this dropped my cholesterol by 30 points.
I was so impressed with my results, I wrote an article about it.
